Strydom Wambi scored the only goal of the game as Royal Eagles got off to a winning start in the Absa Premiership/ National First Division promotion-relegation playoffs at Chatsworth Stadium in Durban on Wednesday.
The forward's 22nd minute header was enough to lead Eagles to a 1-0 win over Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila. Eagles next face Maritzburg United at Harry Gwala Stadium on Sunday.
TTM were the better team for most parts of the clash, but came up against an inspired Patrick Nyame in the Eagles goal.
The shot-stopper was at his brilliant best to deny former top-flight strikers Edward Manqele and Phumelele Bhengu in the second half, while the latter also saw his header attempt in the 78th minute cleared off the line by Sabata Mosebo.
Try as their might, TTM couldn't find the key to open the lock as Eagles take an early advantage in the playoffs in their quest for Absa Premiership football next season.
