Misr El-Makassa striker John Antwi feels that he deserves to be included in the Ghana squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.

The 26-year-old, who is one of the most lethal strikers in the Egyptian Premier League, has never played for the Black Stars of Ghana.

However, Antwi was included in the Ghana squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification matches in 2013, but he was omitted from the national team.

“Every country coming to the tournament are in to win it but all will depend on the team,” Antwi told FOX FM.

"So just as Ghana wants to win it, Egypt are equally ready to win it and keep the cup here.

“My expectations are that my name will be in the squad when the call up is made (for the AFCON 2019) because looking at my performances here.

"It will be good if I’m given the opportunity so I can also play for my country Ghana."

Antwi was also called up to the Ghana squad for a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Uganda in October 2017, but he never played.
