Nigeria handed boost as Samuel Kalu declared fit

Nigeria's Super Eagles have been handed a boost ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.

French Ligue side FC Girondins de Bordeaux have announced that attacker Samuel Kalu has been declared fit ahead of their clash with Reims this weekend.

Kalu has been included in Nigeria's provisional squad for the 2019 AFCON finals which will be hosted by Egypt between June 21 and July 19.

"Yes, he (Kalu) can be that X Factor, that player who can bring us something," Bordeaux head coach Paulo Sousa told the reporters according to All Nigeria Soccer.

"When I talk about power, fight, intention to score, he's a player who will give us that.

"I hope that during the next season, there will be other players who can bring it on this moment of play," he added.

"Samuel Kalu can start against Reims."

Nigeria are in Group B alongside Guinea, Madagascar and Burundi at the 2019 AFCON finals.
