Ghanaian striker Majeed Waris has explained that he would like to continue playing his football in France’s Ligue 1.
The 27-year-old is on loan at Nantes from Porto and has featured strongly for Les Canaris this season, registering seven goals and six assists from 36 appearances across all competitions.
Nantes have an option to buy but it is not yet clear whether he will remain with the French, return to Porto or take up one of several reported offers from other European clubs.
Speaking in an interview with Press Ocean, the forward confirmed he would be happy to extend his stay with Nantes for the 2019/20 season.
“If I have the opportunity, yes, of course. In Nantes? Yes, why not. Everything is possible. But it does not depend on me, there are many factors,” he said.
Waris added, “I like Ligue 1, it's one of the best leagues in Europe, and I know I'll play in France next year, but I do not know where else.”
The attacker is expected to be a part of Ghana’s squad at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, where the Black Stars will come up against Benin, Cameroon and Guinea-Bissua in Group F.
