Asamoah Gyan has come out of international retirement a mere 48 hours after announcing that he would not avail himself for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The 33-year-old, who has scored 51 goals in 106 games for Ghana announced his international retirement on Monday, this after head coach Kwesi Appiah had removed the forward as Ghana's national team captain.
Gyan, though, revealed that a call from Ghana president Nana Akufo Addo persuaded him to rescind his earlier decision.
He wrote: "A presidential request is one that cannot be disregarded.
"I have taken the request of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in good faith and will make myself available for selection by coach Kwesi Appiah to help win the AFCON trophy."
Ghana's record goal scorer has scored six FIFA World Cup goals, the most by an African footballer.
