Mohammed Dauda’s Vitesse will not be playing European football next season after losing 2-0 (3-1 on aggregate) to Utrecht at the GelreDome on Tuesday evening.

It was the Dutch Eredivisie’s play-off match to see which of the two teams would play in the Europa League next season, and it was a night to forget for the Ghanaian.

Utrecht looked the better team from the onset and duly opened the scoring through Cyril Dessers in the 31st minute.

Simon Gustafson doubled Utrect's lead in 77th minute after running onto a perfectly weighted through ball, rounding the goalkeeper and rolling the ball into an empty net.

Vitesse's night went from bad to worse as Dauda received his marching orders in the 78th minute, only playing 33 minutes after the match after coming on as a substitute at half-time.

Vitesse did have another African in the team with Thulani Serero playing the entire 90 minutes of the second leg tie.
