Gross to leave Zamalek despite CAFCC success

Caf Confederations Cup champions Zamalek have announced that Christian Gross will vacate his position as head coach at the expiry of his contract.

Gross guided the White Knights to a first continental trophy in 16 years, but despite his success club chairman Mortada Mansour has decided against renewing the Swiss coach's contract.

Zamalek trail league leaders Al Ahly by seven points, but having played two games less than their rivals the club are still in with a chance of winning the Egyptian Premier League.

"I will not renew his contract, I told him that he is no longer the head coach of the team, he will leave Egypt soon," Mansour said as per KingFut.com.

"Khaled Galal will take the charge of the team for the remaining Egyptian league matches."

Zamalek beat RS Berkane 5-3 on penalties last weekend as they tasted CAFCC success for the very first time.
