Red Star Belgrade’s Ghanaian striker Richmond Boakye has sent his best wishes to the Black Stars ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 26-year-old forward would surely have been a part of national team coach James Kwesi Appiah’s plans for the tournament, but injury prevented him from being named in the preliminary squad.
The Black Stars are currently in Abu Dhabi beginning preparations for the tournament which kicks off on June 21, with Ghana playing their first game on June 25 against Benin at the Ismaily Sports Stadium.
In a post on his official Instagram page, Boakye urged his teammates to go for glory in an attempt to win Ghana’s first AFCON title since 1982.
“Wishing my mates all the best of luck in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. #Go Ghana, #Go Black Stars,” the prolific forward posted.
Boakye showed his potency in attack this past season by scoring 13 goals and registering four assists from just 15 appearances (due to being beleaguered by injuries).
