Hoffenheim forward Ishak Belfodil has taken to social media to wish Algeria all the best for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 27-year-old enjoyed a fine season in the Bundesliga, scoring 16 goals in 28 league matches in his maiden campaign with Hoffenheim.
However, in his team’s final match of the season against Mainz on May 18, he suffered a knee injury which has ruled him out of contention for Algeria’s squad.
The former Standard Liege and Lyon attacker has sent his good wishes to the Fennec Foxes as they prepare for their campaign in Egypt.
"Following a knee injury during the last game of the season, my participation in the Afcon is unfortunately impossible," Belfodil wrote on Instagram.
"I wish my brothers nothing but success at this tournament. My recovery programme has started two weeks ago, to be 100 percent fit for the new season."
The North African heavyweights have been drawn in Group C at the tournament, where they will come up against Kenya, Senegal and Tanzania.
