Nigeria’s Super Falcons are in “high spirit” ahead of their 2019 Women’s World Cup (WWC) opening match against Norway tonight.

The tournament got underway on Friday, with hosts France thrashing South Korea 4-0 in Paris. Nigeria and Norway will cross swords in the second Group A match tonight, as they meet in Reims.

According to Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) secretary general Mohammed Sanusi, there is no extra pressure being placed on the Super Falcons.

“The team is in high spirit. The NFF has given the girls the best preparations to excel in the World Cup,” Sanusi told Nigeria’s The Guardian.

“The level of commitment is high in the camp and I believe the girls are not in any form of pressure.”

Nigeria, who are coached by Danish tactician Thomas Dennerby, will also face Korea in Grenoble on June 12 and hosts France in Rennes five days later.

The Super Falcons are looking to advance beyond the group stage at the WWC for the first since 1999.
