Former Tottenham Hotspur and Egypt national team striker Ahmed' Mido' Hossam has been appointed as Misr El Makkasa’s new coach, the club announced on Sunday.
The 36-year-old former Zamalek coach replaces veteran boss Talaat Youssef, who resigned his post in April 2019.
Mido was twice in charge of Cairo giants Zamalek, leading the ‘White Knights’ to the Egypt Cup title in his first stint in 2014. His second spell in 2016 was less successful after he was sacked following a poor run of results.
Mido has also managed at other Egyptian clubs Ismaily in 2015 and Wadi Degla in 2017, while he took charge of Saudi Arabian side Al-Taaowen in 2019 but was sacked after only two months.
Makkasa finished the recently-completed Egyptian Premier League season in the sixth place and reached the Egypt Cup quarterfinals.
