Al Ahly defender Ali Maaloul says he will support the Tunisian national team during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.
The accomplished left-back was surprisingly left out of Tunisia's final 23-man squad for the tournament by coach Alain Giresse.
This is despite Maaloul, who has over 50 caps for Tunisia, being a consistent performer for Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
The full-back has claimed that he will attend games in the stands to support the Eagles of Carthage in Egypt.
“The Tunisian National team is not a team for a particular person or specific organization, it’s my own nation’s team," Maaloul told Diwan FM.
"I wish my teammates good luck to have a great competition.
“I will be attending the games in the stands supporting the team starting from the second game. They are representing our country and I wish them all the best.”
Tunisia are in Group E alongside Angola, Mauritania and Mali in a tournament which will be hosted by Egypt between June 21 and July 19.
