Senegal will be eyeing the perfect start with victory over Tanzania in their Group C Africa Cup of Nations opener at 30 June Stadium in Cairo on Sunday evening.

Kick-off is at 19h00 CAT.

The Teranga Lions head into this year's continental showpiece as the top ranked team on the African continent, 22nd in the world, and favourites to win what would be their first Afcon crown.

Spearheaded by Liverpool's Sadio Mane and Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, Senegal boast a star-studded squad. The West African's have came close to winning the title in 2002 but lost to Cameroon in the final.

Head coach Aliou Cissé was part of the squad that lost out to the Indomitable Lions 17 years ago, and he more than most will be eager to lead the West African nation to a first Afcon title - on the soil of the record seven-time champions nonetheless.

Tanzania return to Africa's showpiece for the first time in 39 years. The Taifa Stars ended their almost four decade wait for a place at the continent's premier competition by finishing second to Ghana in a competitive group.

Ranked at 131st in the world, Tanzania are among the lowest ranked teams heading into the tournament but with star forward Mbwana Samatta in their ranks, they could cause an upset or two.
