Tunisia midfielder Ferjani Sassi has apologized after his side's defeat to Senegal over the weekend.
The Carthage Eagles recorded a 1-0 defeat to the Lions of Teranga in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final match in Egypt.
Tunisian defender Dylan Bronn scored an own goal in extra time which handed Senegal a slim win.
The Zamalek midfielder reflected on the defeat and also apologized for missing a penalty during the encounter.
“I’m sad our campaign stopped here," Sassi said.
“Luck was not on our side today. We missed many clear chances despite having our best game in the tournament.
"Even the game’s lone goal was one we scored in our own net," he added.
“I want to apologize to our supporters for this defeat. I also apologize for the penalty miss."
Tunisia will now take on Nigeria in the third-place play-off encounter at the Al Salam Stadium in Egypt on Wednesday.
