Wilfried Zaha has reportedly told Crystal Palace that he wants to leave the club.
According to Sky Sports News, the 26-year-old issued a transfer request to the Eagles hierarchy following his return from Ivory Coast’s quarter-final exit at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Arsenal are frontrunners to sign the Palace winger and have already had a £40m transfer offer rejected by Palace.
Eagles boss Roy Hodgson, though, has reiterated that Arsenal haven’t come close to their evaluation of the player. Zaha, who singed a 5-year contract to keep him at Selhurst Park until 2023 back in August last year, is reportedly valued at £80m by the South London club.
“I don’t think Arsenal have actually made a bid that has come anywhere near our valuation,” said Hodgson as per Sky Sports News.
“I’m sure the player realises that if someone’s going to take him away from us, he’ll expect clubs to pay the market value. Until someone does that, there’s not much to discuss regarding Wilf.”
Zaha scored 10 goals and assisted a further 10 in 36 games across all competitions last season.
