Guinea international Amadou Diawara has expressed his eagerness to prove himself at new club Roma ahead of the 2019/20 season.
The 22-year-old defensive midfielder signed for the Giallorossi from Napoli in early July as part of the deal which saw Greek defender Kostas Manolas head in the opposite direction.
Diawara featured for Guinea at the recently-concluded 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, helping the Syli Nationale reach the last 16 stage, where they were comfortable beaten by eventual champions Algeria.
Diawara has even shortened his holiday so he could report for duty at the Stadio Olimpico and meet his fellow Roma players, as well as coach Paulo Fonseca.
“I cut my vacation short so that I could return early, get to know my new teammates and coach,” said Diawara.
“It will certainly help that I’m coming straight off the African Cup of Nations, as I am in good shape. I think we can have a great season at Roma.
“I arrived here very motivated and know that I am at a huge club. Roma’s minimum objective this campaign is Champions League qualification and we’ve got to give our all to make that happen.”
Diawara has also represented San Marino and Bologna in his European club career.
