Heroes & Gasogi earn right to compete with Rwanda's elite

Heroes FC and Gasogi United have earned promotion to the Azam Rwanda Premier League where they will compete with giants like APR and Rayon Sports.

This comes after the two teams reached the final of this season’s second division league according to the Rwandan football assocation website.

Heroes FC lost 1-3 in the return leg played against Etoile de l’est FC in Ngoma on Wednesday, July 24 to progress 3-3 on aggregate thanks to an away goal.

At Stade de Kigali, Gasogi United were held to a 1-all draw by visitors Sorwathe FC, progressing to the final 2-1 on aggregate.

The third-place match and final will be played on Saturday at Stade de Kigali.

The third-place match between Sorwathe FC and Etoile de l’est will kick-off at 13:00 while the final between Heroes FC and Gasogi United will be staged at 15:30.

Cash prize worth Rwf. 5m will be shared among the top three winners. The champion will pocket Rwf. 3m on top of the trophy while first and second runner-ups will take home Rwf. 1.5m and Rwf. 500,000 respectively.

Gasogi United and Heroes FC will now face Amagaju FC and Kirehe FC who were relegated from last season’s top flight league.

The 2019/2020 Azam Rwanda Premier League is scheduled to start on September 13, 2019.
