Former Morocco head coach Herve Renard has been appointed as the new head coach of Saudi Arabia.
Renard, who guided both Zambia and Ivory Coast to Africa Cup of Nations glory in 2012 and 2015 respectively, resigned following the Atlas Lions surprise Round of 16 exit at the continental showpiece in Egypt this month.
The 50-year-old was duly linked with both the Egypt and Senegal coaching positions in aftermath of the 2019 Afcon, but quickly distanced himself from both jobs, stating that his next gig would not be on the African continent.
Renard takes over the reins from Argentine Juan Antonio Pizzi and will be tasked with leading the country to the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar.
Saudi Arabia suffered a Round of 16 exit at the Asian Cup earlier this year, having made their fifth World Cup appearance in Russia last year.
