Tanzania coach Etienne Ndairajige praised his charges after they advanced to the next stage of the 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.

The Taifa Stars defeated Kenya 4-1 on penalties following a 0-0 draw on aggregate at the Moi Stadium, Kasarani on Sunday.

Tanzania came into this clash having lost 3-2 to Kenya at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals last month.

However, Ndairajige insisted that it was not about revenge when they took on the Harambee Stars.

“Kenya played well and looked organised. We pushed them and I am happy we won. We were not looking for revenge at all,” Ndairajige told The Star.

“We start preparations immediately for the next match against Sudan.”

Tanzania will now take on Sudan in the third round of qualification between September and October.

The winner on aggregate will qualify for the 2020 CHAN finals.
