Absa Premiership football returns this weekend following an exciting opening weekend, which was duly followed by a surprise win for Baroka FC in the first game of matchday two on Tuesday.
Gerald Phiri Jr’s sublime free-kick spearheaded Bakgaga to a narrow 1-0 win over Bidvest Wits in Braamfontein.
The game followed an action-packed weekend with the eight games producing a total of 20 goals, five of which came in Kaizer Chiefs 3-2 win over Highlands Park in Tembisa.
Due to Caf Champions League and Caf Confederations Cup commitments, there are only five games scheduled for this weekend.
Maritzburg United and Highlands Park kick-off the action at Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg on Friday evening. Both teams will be hoping to return to winning ways following defeats last weekend.
The action will resume with three games on Saturday, the first of which will see Polokwane City host a wounded AmaZulu outfit, who suffered a 3-0 loss to Bidvest Wits in their opening game of the 2019/20 season.
Cape Town City will then take on rivals Stellenbosch FC in the first ‘Cape Derby’ of it’s kind before Chiefs play host to Black Leopards.
The weekend’s action will calumniate in the ‘City of Roses’ where Bloemfontein Celtic will host Golden Arrows as Steve Komphela takes on his former employers.
