Napoli club president Aurelio De Laurentiis has lashed out at Manchester United for the transfer fee spent on England international Harry Maguire.
Maguire became the world’s most expensive defender earlier this month after the Red Devils paid English Premier League rivals Leicester City £80m for his services, surpassing the amount Liverpool paid to get Virgil van Dijk.
United were heavily linked with Senegal international, Koulibaly, before switching focus to Maguire instead and De Laurentiis is of the opinion that the 28-year-old is worth three times more than the England centre-back.
“He has a clause of £150m,” De Laurentiis told ESPN. “But, for example, in England, they paid £85m for a player. In Napoli, I would pay £30-£35m.
“With that in mind, I think Koulibaly’s value is £250m if they paid that much for that guy.”
Koulibaly, who has scored 10 goals in 212 appearances for Napoli, is contracted to the Serie A club until 2023.
