Senegal midfielder Idrissa Gueye accepts that there are no guarantees at new club Paris Saint-Germain.
The 29-year-old joined the French Ligue 1 champions from Premier League side Everton at the end of last month, with PSG paying a sum of £30million for his services.
While Gueye was a regular for the Toffees and is a cornerstone of the Senegal team which reached the final of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, he faces some stiff competition in his central midfield position at the Parc des Princes.
Fellow new signing Ander Herrera, as well as Marco Verratti and Leandro Paredes are capable of playing in the same central defensive midfield role as Gueye, meaning the African player is by no means certain of being a starter under head coach Thomas Tuchel.
He told TFM, “As in all major teams, there is this aspect of competition. It’s up to the coach to make the final choices for his team.
“After that, like any player, I want to play. Now at my level, I will continue to work to help the team. Afterwards, it’s up to the coach to make the final choices for his team.”
Gueye has also represented Diambars, Lille and Aston Villa in his senior club career.
