Uganda vice-captain Hassan Wasswa Mawanda is set to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad Jeddah in a “multi-million dollar” move, according to Kawowo Sports.

The well-travelled midfielder last played for Tala’ea El Gaish Sports Club in Egypt, having joined the outfit following a short spell in Lebanon.

Mawanda, 31, has played football in eight different countries – Saudi Arabia will be his ninth – and for 13 different clubs.

Having started his career in Uganda, Mawanda quickly moved to Ethiopia, South Africa and Turkey. Spells in Vietnam, Iraq, Lebanon and Egypt duly followed with Saudi Arabia now on his radar.

Capped 76 times by the Uganda Cranes, the midfielder was part of the squad that participated in both the 2017 and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments in Gabon and Egypt respectively.
