Asante Kotoko CEO George Amoaka has praised the club’s head coach Kjetil Zachariassen following their CAF Champions League performance this past weekend.

The Ghanaian club suffered a 3-2 defeat away to Nigeria’s Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Saturday 10 August, in the first leg of their preliminary round tie.

However, the two away goals – scored by Justice Blay and Godfred Asiamah – have given the Porcupine Warriors genuine hope of overturning the deficit in the return game later this month.

Speaking in a recent interview after returning to Ghana, Amoako has emphasised his belief in the abilities of Zachariassen, indicating that the Norwegian tactician is a master of the art.

“When he take us through the game he was going to play, he had three different formations that he was going to play at any given time depending on the circumstance to get this scoreline,” said Amoaka, as quoted by Football Ghana.

“He used all the three [formations] to get this result. He knows what he is about.”

The second leg encounter is scheduled for Friday23 August at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
