Aubameyang, Mane and fellow African star Mohamed Salah shared the golden boot last season, and the trio have started the 2019/20 campaign in similar goalscoring fashion.

Gabon international, Aubameyang, followed his opening weekend winner against Newcastle United with the winning goal for Arsenal in a 2-1 victory at home to Burnley on Saturday.

Senegal international Mane followed his brace in Liverpool’s Super Cup win over Chelsea with a stunning strike to sink former club Southampton.

The African theme continued on Sunday as Wilfred Ndidi made up for a first half error with a goal to earn Leicester City a point away to Chelsea.

Elsewhere this past weekend, Moroccan and Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Hakim Ziyech scored his second goal of the season as the Dutch champions registered a 4-1 thumping of VVV-Venlo.

Ghanaian youngster Issah Abass scored a superb solo effort for Utrecht as they held Feyenoord to a 1-1 draw at De Kuip to continue their unbeaten start to the Eredivisie season.

In Spain, Nigerian star Samuel Chukwueze found the back of the net for Villarreal in a 4-4 draw against Granda on the opening weekend of the LaLiga season.

Mbwana Samata continued his scoring run in 2019 with a hat-trick for Genk in a 4-0 thumping of Waasland-Beveren in the Belgium Pro League.

In France, Senegal midfielder Habibou Mouhamadou Diallo most notably bagged a brace to help FC Metz to a 3-0 thumping over Henry Onyekuru’s Monaco.

Fellow countryman M’Baye Niang capped a good weekend for the Teranga Lions in Europe, firing home for Stade Rennes in a 2-1 win over Ligue 1 champions Paris-Saint Germain.
