Kaizer Chiefs retained their sport atop the Absa Premiership standings with a 1-1 draw at home to SuperSport United at FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.

Amakhosi opened the scoring in Soweto before Bradley Grobler levelled matters and the in-form striker had a chance to claim all three points for the visitors late on, but Daniel Akpeyi denied him from the penalty spot.

Golden Arrows registered their second win in three games with a 2-1 victory over Chippa United on home soil. Knox Mutizwa netted a 90th minute winner for the hosts while Highlands Park claimed a 1-1 draw away to Black Leopards in Thohoyandou at the same time.

Following a day that conjured seven goals in three games, hopes were high that the goalscoring would continue in the two matches scheduled for Sunday, but that would not be the case.

Stellenbosch FC goalkeeper Boy de Jong pulled off a string of good saves, including an unbelievable stop with his head, to deny Maritzburg United victory at Athlone Stadium. Both teams remain winless in the Premiership this season.

In Polokwane, Baroka FC were held to a goalless draw by ten-man Bloemfontein Celtic who had Lantshene Phalane sent off just after the hour mark.
