Ivorian winger Salomon Kalou could not help his side, Hertha Berlin avoid a defeat in the German Bundesliga on Sunday.
Kalou was substituted in the 70th minute as Hertha were thrashed 3-0 by Wolfsburg at the Olympiastadion Berlin.
DR Congolese defender Marcel Tisserand, who is on the books of Wolfsburg, was an unused substitute.
Meanwhile, Malian defender Almany Toure was on the losing side when Eintracht Frankfurt succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against RB Leipzig.
Toure was introduced in the 87th minute against Leipzig, who had Malian midfielder Amadou Haidara on the bench at the Red Bull Arena.
Bundesliga action will continue this weekend and the biggest match of round three will be between Bayer Leverkusen and Hoffenheim.
Togolese forward Ihlas Bebou, who has scored once this season, will be hoping to help Hoffenheim secure a win at the BayArena on Saturday.
Kalou will be keen to help Hertha secure their first win of the season when they take on Schalke 04 at the VELTINS Arena.
Lastly, Moroccan full-back Achraf Hakimi’s Borussia Dortmund will be eyeing their third successive win when they face Union Berlin at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei.
