On a relatively quiet weekend for African stars in the Spanish LaLiga, Barcelona’s Anssumane Fati stole the headlines; becoming the second youngest player in the club’s illustrious history.
The 16-year-old from Guinea-Bissau, emerged from the bench as Barcelona bounced back to winning ways with a 5-2 victory over Real Betis at Camp Nou on Sunday evening.
Elsewhere, Samuel Chukwueze’s Villarreal opened the scoring away to Levante on Friday evening, but two penalties in five minutes turned the game on it’s head as the Yellow Submarine ultimately succumbed to defeat.
Thomes Partey’s Atletico Madrid made it two wins from the same amount of matches, edging Kenneth Omeruo’s Leganes 1-0 at Estadio Municipal de Butarque.
Atletico are level on six points with Sevilla heading into matchday three, which will see the capital-club take on Eibar on home soil. Barcelona travel to Osasuna this coming weekend while Villarreal host Real Madrid in the match of the round.
