Belgian club Standard Liege have extended the contract of Democratic Republic of Congo midfielder Merveille Bokadi but given no detail of the new deal.
The club made the announcement on their website, congratulating the 23-year-old on signing a contract extension
The defensive midfielder moved to Standard two years ago from TP Mazembe Englebert.
He first went on loan for six months before Standard paid a 400 000 Euro fee for his services.
Bokadi had not been a regular before the start of this seaon but now looks be settled into coach Michel Preud’homme’s plans.
Bokadi played for DR Congo at the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Egypt in June but two cautions in the first two games meant he sat out the 4-0 win over Zimbabwe in the last of the group matches.
He then came off the bench in the last 16- tie against Madagascar which ended 2-2 after which the Congolese lost on post-match penalties.
