Algerians Farid El Melaili and Zinedine Ferhat were on target across five matches played in Ligue 1 on Saturday.
El Melaili scored the second goal for Angers as they claimed a 2-0 win over Dijon at Stade Raymond-Kopa to make a significant move up the standings. The match also featured the likes of Ismael Traore, Bruno Ecuele and Didier Ndong.
The biggest win of the day came from Nimes, who thumped Brest 3-0 at Stade des Costieres, with Ferhat opening the scoring in just the third minute, while Togolese midfielder Ahoueke Denkey also found the net after rising off the bench in injury time at the end of the game.
Nantes, featuring Mehdi Abeid, Kalifa Coulibaly and Charles Traore, edged Ambroise Oyongo’s Montpellier 1-0 at Stade de la Beaujoire, a Toulouse side with Max Gradel and Issiaga Sylla defeated Amiens (with Bongani Zungu, Gael Kakuta and Chadrac Akolo) 2-0 at Stadium Municipal, and Saturday’s early game was a 1-1 draw between Olympique Lyon and Bordeaux.
Maxwel Cornet started and Bernard Traore appeared as a substitute for the hosts, while Bordeaux featured Samuel Kalu and Edson Mexer in their starting line-up.
