Top African footballers continue to play major roles and contribute to the success of their teams in Europe week in week out.


Choosing the best five African footballers is a daunting challenge as the continent is blessed with many world-class players.


Notwithstanding, African Football managed to put together a list of five outstanding African players:


Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – Arsenal FC


The Gabon captain has established himself as one of the best strikers in the English Premier League having scooped last season’s Golden Boot award.


Aubameyang, who is known for his pace, finishing, and off-ball movement, shared the accolade with fellow Africans Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.


The former Borussia Dortmund marksman continues to shine for the English giants in the EPL as he has netted three goals in four matches in the new 2019/20 campaign.


Mohamed Salah – Liverpool FC


The Egyptian superstar is widely regarded as one of the best players in world football at the moment following a successful 2018/19 season.


Salah is blessed with amazing finishing, dribbling, and speed, and he played an important role in helping the English giants clinch the coveted, UEFA Champions League title.


The reigning CAF African Footballer of the Year started the new 2019/20 season by helping his club lift the UEFA Super League.


Riyad Mahrez – Manchester City FC


Algeria captain was part of the City team which made history by clinching three major trophies namely; English Premier League, EFL Cup and FA Cup during the 2018/19 campaign.


Mahrez, who is equipped with mesmerizing dribbling skills and pace, contributed 12 goals and 12 assists across all competitions in his first season with the club.


The former Leicester City winger was also part of the City side which started the current 2019/20 term by lifting the FA Community Shield.


Hakim Ziyech – Ajax Amsterdam FC


The Moroccan star has established himself as one of the most dangerous playmakers in Europe following a successful 2018/19 season with his club.


Ziyech is known for his dribbling, technique and free-kick ability, and he inspired the Dutch giants to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, KNVB Cup and Eredivisie title.


The former Twente midfielder has been unstoppable in the new 2019/20 season – scoring four goals in four Eredivisie matches.


Sadio Mane – Liverpool FC


The Senegal vice-captain is widely considered to be one of the best wingers in world football after a very successful 2018/19 campaign with Liverpool.


Mane, who is equipped with impressive pace and finishing ability, scored important goals which helped his club clinch the UEFA Champions League title and he was nominated for the tournament’s Best Forward award.


The former Southampton FC winger began the current 2019/20 campaign by scoring a brace as Liverpool lifted the UEFA Super Cup.
