Algeria international Rachid Ghezzal will be hoping to resurrect his career while on-loan at Serie A club Fiorentina.

Fiorentina reportedly paid an initial loan fee of £275k with a transfer fee set around £9 million for Ghezzal, should the club take up the option to buy the 27-year-old come the end of the 2019/20 season.

Ghezzal joined Leicester City from French Ligue 1 club Monaco in August 2018 as a direct replacement for Riyad Mahrez who had joined English Premier League rials Manchester City.

In total, Ghezzal managed just three goals in 23 appearances across all competitions for the Foxes as he ultimately fell out of favour at King Power Stadium.

The winger’s poor form cost him a place in Algeria’s title winning 2019 Africa Cup of Nations squad. His last appearances for the Dessert Foxes came in October last year.

Ghezzal joins fellow Africans Kevin-Prince Boateng and Bryan Dabo at the Italian club.
