Burkina Faso frustrate Morocco, Benin stun Ivory Coast

Three African international friendlies were played on Friday as the teams prepare for the upcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.


Tunisia secured a 1-0 victory over Mauritania in a match which took place at the Stade Olympique de Radès in Radès.


Amor Layouni scored the only goal of the match with 12 minutes left on the clock and the hosts held on to record a narrow win.


At the Stade de Marrakech, Morocco were held to a 1-1 stalemate by Burkina Faso in a game which took place in Marrakech.


Cyrille Bayala handed Burkina Faso the lead, but Zouhair Feddal grabbed a late equalizing goal to ensure that the game ended in a draw.


Lastly, Ivory Coast were stunned 2-1 by Benin in an encounter which was played at the Stade Michel d’Ornano in Caen, France.


Roger Assale gave Ivory Coast the lead, but two second-half goals by Jodel Dossou and Stephane Sessegnon handed Benin the win.
