Namibia booked their place in the the second round of Africa’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a 2-0 (4-1 on aggregate) win over Eritrea at Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek on Tuesday.

The Brave Warriors beat the same opponents 2-0 in Asmara last week and duly completed the job with a comfortable win in the Namibian capital.

An own goal from Esfey Tesfay and a strike from Highlands Park forward Peter Shalulile spearheaded Namibia to victory in Eritrea, and the Southern African’s made no mistake on home soil to book their place in the group stages.

Absalom Iimbondi fired Namibia in front in the 25th minute to hand the hosts a narrow lead at the interval.

Eritrea, to their credit, improved as the match wore on, but Shalulile would double Namibia’s lead; breaking through on goal before finishing with aplomb in second-half stoppage time to lead the Warriors into the second round.
