Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to maintain their place at the top of the Absa Premiership standings when they host Polokwane City at FNB Stadium on Saturday 14 September 2019, kick-off at 18h00.

Chiefs claimed a third win from their opening four matches in the league when they defeated Cape Town City 2-1 away from home on Tuesday, August 27. The Amakhosi came from a goal down to win the game, thanks to late strikes from Daniel Cardoso and Kearyn Baccus.

Polokwane come into the match having played to a 0-0 draw away to Chippa United in their last league outing on Wednesday, August 28. Rise and Shine have picked up seven points from their opening four matches and conceded just one goal in the process.

In head-to-head stats, Chiefs and Polokwane have met in 12 league matches since 2013/14. The Amakhosi have claimed five wins compared to two for Rise and Shine, while five games have been drawn. The Soweto side has recorded four wins, one draw and one defeat in their six home matches in the rivalry.

Last season Polokwane took four points off Chiefs, winning 1-0 at Moses Mabhida Stadium in October 2018 (the Limpopo side’s first away victory in the rivalry) before playing out a 1-1 draw in the return game at Peter Mokaba Stadium in February 2019.
