SuperSport United will be looking to continue their great form in the Absa Premiership when they host Cape Town City at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday 14 September 2019, kick-off at 20h15.

SuperSport have taken seven points from the last nine up for grabs, with their latest league result a 2-0 win away to Baroka FC on Wednesday August 28. Matsatsantsa’s goals in that game were scored by Bradley Grobler (who has netted four times in the league already this term) and Jamie Webber.

City come into the match having suffered a first league defeat of the season in their last outing. The Cape Town side were beaten 2-1 at home by Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday, August 27 – they claimed an early lead through Kermit Erasmus and held the advantage for over 70 minutes before allowing two late goals.

In head-to-head stats, City and SuperSport have met in six league matches since the start of the 2016/17 season. The Citizens have claimed two wins compared to one for Matsatsantsa, while three games have ended in draws. The Tshwane side has recorded one win, one draw and one loss from their three home matches in the rivalry.

Last season City completed a league ‘double’ over United, winning 2-0 at home, thanks to goals from Roland Putsche and Craig Martin, in August 2018 and 1-0 away (with a late strike from Gift Links) in the return game in January 2019.

SuperSport’s line-up from their 2-0 win over Baroka on August 28: Williams, Nhlapo, Kekana (Khumalo 77′), Daniels, Bhasera, Furman, Mokoena (Webber 81′), Mahachi (Mbule 46′), Rusike, Gabuza, Grobler.

City’s line-up from their 2-1 loss to Chiefs on August 27: Leeuwenburgh, Mkhize, Cupido, Edmilson, Seedat, Mobara, Mokeke, Makola (Links 83’), Norodien, Erasmus (Martin 66’), Mthembu (Morris 73’).
