Guinea have appointed combustible French coach Didier Six on a three-year deal according to reports.
Six will be tasked with leading the side in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, and replaced the Belgian Paul Put.
Put was banned for life by the Guinea Football Association for allegedly breaching the organisation’s code of ethics, having been sacked following a second round exit at the recent Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Former French international Six played at the 1978 and 1982 World Cup finals, and has coached in Africa before with Togo and Mauritius.
He was sacked by the Indian Ocean island in 2015 and has not been active as a coach since.
During his playing career he turned out for Marseille, Stuttgart, Aston Villa and Galatasaray, among many others.
Guinea begin their qualification campaign for the 2021 Cup of Nations against Mali in November, and will also face Namibia, and one of Liberia or Chad.
