Aubameyang headlines African stars in action today

Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang headlines the African stars likely to be in action across Europe’s major leagues through Sunday 15 September 2019.

‘Auba’ has three goals from four Premier League appearances this season and will fancy his chances of adding to that tally when the Gunners head to Vicarage Road to face bottom-of-the-log Watford.

The match will also see the ‘second debut’ of Hornets manager Quique Sanchez Flores (who has replaced Javi Gracia in the first managerial change of the English top flight in 2019/20), as well as the chance to see Nicolas Pepe, Isaac Success and Ismaila Sarr.

In France’s Ligue 1, the big game tonight is Monaco v Olympique Marseille, where Islam Slimani and Keita Balde will hope to inspire the principality side to a much-needed home victory.

The French top flight will also see Moses Simon’s Nantes at home to Stade de Reims (who can call on the likes of Moussa Doumbia and Togo veteran Alaixys Romao) and an Ivorian battle between Jean Aholou and Ibrahim Sangare in midfield for the Saint-Etienne v Toulouse clash.

The top Africans set to feature in Germany include Ishak Belfodil for Hoffenheim at home to Freiburg and Jamilu Collins for Paderborn at home to Schalke, while in Spain’s La Liga Mubarak Wakaso will look to dominate midfield for Deportivo Alaves at home to Sevilla.

Finally, in the Italian Serie A, Franck Kessie and Ismael Bennacer will feature in midfield for Milan away to Hellas Verona, Gervinho’s Parma are at home to Cagliari, Christian Kouame should feature in attack for Genoa against Atalanta, and Amadou Diawara’s Roma host Alfred Duncan’s Sassuolo.
