Koulibaly, Salah and other Africans to watch out for on Tuesday

Top African players will be in action as the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League group stage matches start on Tuesday.


AfricanFootball.com takes a look at the players to watch out for as the biggest club competition takes centre stage.


Ajax Amsterdam v Lille OSC


Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana and Moroccan playmaker Hakim Ziyech are expected to start for Ajax against Lille at the Johan Cruyff Arena.


The duo played an important role in helping the Dutch champions reach the semi-finals last season.


Lille will be banking on Nigerian hitman Victor Osimhen’s scoring form as the player has found the back of the net five times in five French Ligue 1 matches this season.


Borussia Dortmund v FC Barcelona


Moroccan full-back Achraf Hakimi will be one of Borussia Dortmund’s key players when the German giants take on Spanish champions FC Barcelona at the Signal Iduna Park.


Hakimi, who is on loan from Real Madrid at Dortmund, was part of the Spanish giants’ team which won the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League title.


Napoli SCC v Liverpool FC


Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly and Napoli team-mates will take on a Liverpool FC side which boasts arguably the best attack in Europe at the moment.


Koulibaly, who is widely regaded as one of the best defenders in the world, will be looking to help the Italian side overcome the defending champions at the San Paolo.


His countryman Sadio Mane and Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah are expected to spearhead English giants Liverpool’s dangerous attack against Napoli.
