Zimbabwe international Marvelous Nakamba made his English Premier League debut for Aston Villa in a 0-0 draw at home to 10-man West Ham United at Villa Park on Monday.
Nakamba, who joined Villa from Club Brugge in August, was solid throughout the 81 minutes he spent on the pitch before being substituted.
Egypt’s Ahmed Elmohamady also featured for hosts who were without fellow Pharaoh Trezeguet due to suspension. Jonathan Kodjia also played not part as he continues his recovery from injury.
Democratic Republic of Congo fullback Arthur Masuaku saw red for the visiting Hammers in the second half following a second bookable offence, but Villa were unable to take advantage.
Former Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse scored a brace for Alanyaspor in a 3-1 win over Fenerbahce as they extended their lead atop the Turkish Super League standings to four points.
Cisse, 34, has now scored five goals in four games for the league leaders who next face a winless Genclerbirligi.
Ola Aina, Koffi Djidji and Khouma Babacar were all in action for Torino and Lecce respectively, as the visitors registered a surprise 2-1 Serie A win in Turin.
