New Ghanaian signing Nana Asamoah could be in line for his Bundesliga debut at the weekend as Fortuna Dusseldorf consider him for the weekend clash against Borussia Moenchengladbach.
Asamoah suffered an adductor injury and was taken off just minutes after scoring for Fortuna in his only previous appearance, in a German Cup first round game against amateurs FC Villigen on August 10.
His recovery is now complete and coach Friedhelm Funkel is likely to include him in the line-jup for the away match at the Moenchengladbach on Sunday.
“He ensures a brutal tempo and is very good at dribbling,” said Fortuna’s sports director Lutz Pfannenstiel, who engineered the 2.8-million euro move for the 23-year-old, on Thursday.
Asamoah spent the previous three seasons at Waasland-Beveren in Belgium, scoring 18 goals in 60 league appearances.
He is one of four Ghanaians in the Fortuna squad this season.
Defender Kasim Adams, who played for the Black Stars at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt in June, recently arrived from Hoffenheim but has yet to start a game while teenager Kelvin Ofori has been on the bench but yet to make his debut.
Striker Bernard Tekpetey, who moved from Schalke 04, has also only had one appearance off the bench.
