Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has signed to play for Indian Super League side NorthEast United FC, where he will replaced the Nigerian striker Bartholomew Ogbeche.

The new season kicks off next month with Gyan one of the headline players in the 10-team league.

Gyan, who was in Ghana’s squad at the recent Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt, finished his contract at Kayerispor in Turkey in June.

He also previously played at Udinese, Stade Rennes, Sunderland, Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates, where was the top scorer in the Asian Champions League in 2014.

He was then in China with Shanghai SIPG before a half season back in the UAE with Shaba Al Ahli.

Former Super Eagles international Ogbeche had scored 12 goals in 18 appearances for NorthEast United last season but has signed for Kerala Blasters ahead of the upcoming season.

Gyan joins Tunisian Mohamed Larbi and Gabonese Serge Kevyn (Mumbai City) and Cameroon’s Raphael Bouli at Kerala Blasters as new African signings for the Indian Super League.
