Guinea-Bissau born Anssumane Fati is set to play for Spain at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil.
The 16-year-old has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent weeks since making his debut for FC Barcelona in a 5-2 win over Real Betis late last month.
In total, Fati has scored two goals and assisted another in four appearances for the Spanish champions across all competitions.
Latest reports suggest that Fati now has Spanish nationality after the process was rushed through so that he could be part of the country’s U-17 World Cup squad.
Spain have been drawn in Group E alongside Argentina, Tajikistan and Cameroon for the World Cup tournament which will be hosted in Brazil from 26 October to 17 November.
La Rojita lost 5-2 to England in the final of the 2017 tournament.
