Guinea international Naby Keita has returned to full training at Melwood on Friday, as Liverpool continued their preparation for Sunday’s English Premier League clash away to Chelsea.
Keita is unlikely to feature against the Blues at Stamford Bridge, but his return to training will come as a boost to the club as they enter a busy run of fixtures.
The 24-year-old suffered a hip injury in build-up to Liverpool’s UEFA Super Cup win over Chelsea and is yet to feature in the league for the UEFA Champions League holders this season.
“Naby Keita is back in training at least, with the team. Today for the first time with the team,” head coach Jurgen Klopp said at the pre-match press conference.
Keita has struggled with injury in his time at the club thus far, with the former RB Leipzig man missing parts of last season due to injury, while he also played a bit-part role for Guinea at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations due to a knock he sustained at the Camp Nou last season.
In total, Keita has scored three goals in 34 appearances for Liverpool.
