Highlands Park continued their positive run of results with a 2-1 win over Baroka FC in the Absa Premiership on Sunday.
The Lions of the North booked their place in a first MTN8 final on Wednesday with an aggregate victory over Polokwane City, and got one over another Limpopo opponent this week, trumping Bakgaga at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
Namibia international Peter Shalulile scored a second half brace for the visitors who duly move up to eighth place on the log standings, level on points with Bakgaga but a place above them due to a superior goal difference.
Collins Makgaka scored a brilliant free-kick to reduce the deficit, but his strike proved a mere consolation as the Limpopo club’s poor home form continued.
Elsewhere, Cape Town City were held to a 1-1 draw by Golden Arrows in the Mother City. The Citizens opened the scoring through Kermit Erasmus, but Knox Mutizwa netted a late penalty to earn the visitors a point.
The result moves Abafana Bes’thende up to fifth while City drop to 11th following a slow start to the campaign.
Polokwane City sit top of the Premiership standings with 13 points from six fixtures, closely followed by Bidvest Wits, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.
