Barcelona star Anssumane Fati could choose to play for Portugal at national level.
Following reports that Fati has been granted his Spanish citizenship in time for him to play at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil, it has now emerged that he could also represent the current European champions.
Born in Guinea-Bissau, a former Portuguese territory, Fati could reportedly acquire Portuguese citizenship, which would duly make him eligible to represent the country.
It seems, though, as if the 16-year-old has already made up his mind with the teenager to represent La Rojita at the upcoming world youth showpiece.
Fati has spent 10 years in Spain, after leaving Guinea-Bissau with his parents at the age of six. He first made a name for himself at Sevilla before joining the Barcelona academy where he has excelled.
Even if Fati were to play for Spain at youth level, he could still opt to play for either Guinea-Bissau or Portugal at senior level in the future.
In total, Fati has scored two goals and assisted another in five appearances for the Spanish champions across all competitions this season.
