AfricanFootball.com takes a look at big teams staring down the barrel in the CAF Confederations Cup.

The first round second-leg qualifiers will take place this weekend, with the 16 aggregate winners to book their place in the play-off round after which those winners will qualify for the group stages of the 2019/20 CAFCC competition.

Big-spending Egyptian Premier League club Pyramids FC have it all to do heading into their second-leg clash away CR Belouizdad in Algeria following a 1-1 draw in Cairo earlier this month.

Last season’s CAF Confederations Cup runners-up, RS Berkane, also have a mountain to climb at home following a 3-2 loss away to Ashanti Kotoko in Ghana.

Record three-time CAFCC champions CS Sfaxien also suffered a surprise defeat in their first-leg fixture away to Paradou AC. Sfaxien opened the scoring in Algiers, but ultimately succumbed to a 3-1 defeat.

Nigeria’s Enugu Rangers are another staring down the barrel following a 2-1 loss to AS Pelican in Gabon while South Africa’s Bidvest Wits suffered a surprise 1-0 loss to Young Buffaloes in Swaziland.

Fellow South African club, TS Galaxy, who ply their trade in the country’s second division, will be hoping to continue their memorable run with victory over Madagascar’s CNaPS Sport who they defeated 1-0 in the reverse fixture hosted in South Africa.
