Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has committed himself to a return to the Gabon national side according to coach Patrice Neveu.

Talisman Aubameyang has had a running battle with the Gabon football association over various issues that meant he has skipped call-ups in recent years, seriously hindering the potency of the side.

But after a meeting with Neveu in Paris, the striker has committed himself to the team ahead of the start of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in November.

“I was ready to go see him in London,” Neveu told France Football. “Then there was talk in Laval where his mother lives.

“We finally agreed in Paris on a day of rest granted by Unai Emery. And it went very well! In fact, we were both waiting for this meeting.

“Pierre-Emerick has told me, he will be there, the national team can count on him.”

Gabon open their Nations Cup qualification campaign in DR Congo and also face Angola at home in November.

The winner of the preliminary round tie between Djibouti and Gambia will also be in the pool.
