AfricanFootball.com takes a look at SEVEN Africans likely to star in European club action this weekend.
Victor Omishen
The Nigeria international has made an incredible start to life at French Ligue 1 outfit Lille. With six goals in his first seven league games at the club – including two assists – the 20-year-old has surpassed expectations so far.
Brought in as a direct replacement for Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe, Omishen has already gone some way in eradicating memories of his fellow African attacker at Stade Pierre Mauroy.
Alfred Duncan
The Ghanaian midfielder has impressed for Sassuolo so far this season, setting up three goals and finding the back of the net himself in three Serie A appearances.
He will be hoping to add to his tally when the club plays host to Atalanta on Saturday evening.
André-Frank Zambo Anguissa
The Cameroon midfielder has returned to his best from at Spanish La Liga club Villarreal. Following an ill-fated season at Fulham, which culminated in relegation from the Premier League, Anguissa has reignited his career in Spain.
He has featured in five of the club’s six league game so far this season, and will be aiming for another solid performance when the ‘Yellow Submarine’ take on Real Betis on Friday evening.
Riyad Mahrez
The Algeria captain has chipped in with five assists and a goal in six English Premier League games for Manchester City this season.
Having to settle for a place in rotation, Mahrez has done well in taking his chance when called upon from the onset by Pep Guardiola. After picking up three assists in a 5-0 win over West Ham United on the opening game of the season, the winger scored a goal and assisted two more in a 8-0 thumping of Watford last weekend.
Mohamed Salah
Liverpool boast some of the best performing Africans in Europe in Joel Matip, Sadio Mane and Salah.
The Egypt international has been in incredible form for the Reds for the past two years and started the 2019/20 season where he left off in the previous campaign. The winger has contributed four goals and three assists as Liverpool started the season with a perfect 6/6 record.
Amine Harit
With three goals and an assist in his last two league games, the Morocco international is one of the form players in the German Bundesliga.
Harit will be hoping to build on his good run of form when Schalke 04 take on RB Leipzig this weekend.
Thomas Partey
The Ghana international will be in for a tough test when Atletico Madrid play host to crosstown rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish LaLiga on Saturday evening.
Having worked his way into the starting XI, Partey is now a first team regular, constantly performing at the highest level.
