Ghana’s John Antwi scored the only goal of the game as Pyramids kept their Caf Confederations Cup hopes alive.
Following a 1-1 draw in Cairo earlier this month, the odds were stacked against the Egyptian club as they travelled to Algeria, but Antwi’s second-half goal proved decisive as the big-spending club booked their place in the playoff round.
There was no such luck, though, for CS Sfaxien. The three-time champions suffered a 3-1 first-leg defeat away to Paradou in Algeria before a goalless draw in Tunisia on Sunday evening.
Pyramids’ Egyptian rivals El Masry also booked their place in the next round with a 7-2 aggregate win over Malindi while there were also comfortable victories for Enugu Rangers and San Pedro.
